MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, managed by the Community Transport Association UK, which has been the gold standard for enhancing the safety and care of passengers for 30 years. The scheme provides a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of drivers to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge to provide safe, legal and comfortable journeys to passengers.
Who is MiDAS for:
Our aim is to provide quality training to Care Homes, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other organisations who use Minibus vehicles for their transport needs
What are the benefits of MiDAS Training?
What does MiDAS training involve, how long does it take and where?
There are two modules to choose from – Standard and Accessible.
1) Standard :
Following your application to take part in training, drivers will be allocated an ‘E--learner pass code’ to access the Community Transport Association (CTA) learning portal. Here they can access the theory course. This has to be completed at least 48 hours before the agreed date for the driving assessment. The theory training takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.
On the agreed date we will come to you for the practical assessment, it will take place in your own vehicle and we can train up to a 4 people within one day on a 1-1 basis. The driving assessment is a minimum of 45 minutes per driver.
2) Accessible:
The ‘Accessible’ module is still delivered in 2 parts, theory, which for the time being is still face-to-face, followed by a practical session using the accessible equipment fitted to your vehicle, ramps, tail-lift etc.
The driving assessment and Accessible training are delivered at your place of work, using one of your vehicles. ‘Accessible’ training (for carriage of wheelchair users) may require delivery over 2 days depending on numbers required.
Following successful completion of the training elements undertaken, drivers will be able to log on to the CTA portal to print off their personal MiDAS certificates. These are valid for 4 years.
MIDAS group sizes and costs:
A maximum of 4 drivers per booking
The online e learning costs £40 per driver applicant but provides 4 years of access to all the learning materials. This is paid to the CTA and we arrange everything for you as part of the booking process.
